This policy covers library staff employment.

PERSONNEL POLICIES

 

1. The Librarian is to get a qualified replacement during her absence.

2. The Letts Public Library Board would appreciate 1 (1)

months notice of a librarian's resignation. Dismissal for the librarian will be for unwillingness or inability to conform to library board policies. In the event of a possible dismissal of the librarian, the board and the librarian will have a closed meeting, at which time the board and the librarian will discuss their respective differences.

3. The library board offers, as the budget permits, funds to aid staff members to attend continuing education programs directly related to library issues.

4. Job description for the librarian:

a. to request library materials from Southeastern Library Services and the State Library of Iowa.

b. when requested materials arrive, to call patron who requested material and to return material to lending library.

c. to send out late notices on overdue materials.

d. to fill out circulation papers as prescribed each time the library is open.

e. to process new materials

f. to order supplies, and materials as deemed necessary for the library.

g. to write agenda , to mail agenda to board members, and post

agenda.

h. to attend board meetings

i. to make report to the Letts City Council, Louisa County Board of Supervisors and the Library Board of Trustees.

j. to weed material

k. to do maintenance (cleaning, dusting), and decorating of the library.

l. to fill out reports sent to the library.

m. to count secret ballots cast during election of Letts Public Library Board officers.

n. to be able to type and have adequate computer knowledge.
